VOLUNTARY RETURNS

The Office of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Warsaw implements the Assisted Voluntary Return program. It is directed to those foreigners who did not obtain a refugee status or any other form of protection in Poland, and resigned from applying for the refugee status, as well as for other foreigners who cannot stay in Poland.

The program is implemented in cooperation with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration and is co-financed by the European Return Fund.

Assistance provided by IOM includes:

  • advisory services regarding the return, including provision of detailed information about the country of return;
  • assistance in obtaining a travel document, if necessary;
  • medical tests, if necessary;
  • organization of the return journey to the target location in the country of return;
  • reintegration assistance.

Proper organization of travel allows people requiring special treatment, such as pregnant women, single parents with little children, ill or handicapped people, to benefit from the project as well. Special attention is paid to the needs of unaccompanied minors and victims of human trafficking.

One very important element of the offered aid is reintegration assistance. On the day of return, people coming back to their countries receive money to provide for themselves during the first few days after their return. Additional assistance is provided on the basis of an reintegration plan prepared by the foreigner. This aid can be used to e.g. start one's own economic activity, start education, rebuilt one's house or for employment subsidies.

Additional, individual reintegration assistance is offered to unaccompanied minors returning to their countries, human trafficking victims and persons who require medical help in their country of origin.

People interested in obtaining voluntary return assistance can receive more information calling: (22) 538 91 63, (22) 538 91 69 and (22) 538 92 12.

Program co-financed from the European Return Fund.
