Below is described the scope of social assistance that may be received by a foreigner who has submitted an application for a refugee status and the rules governing the manner of granting this assistance are explained.

The Department for Social Assistance of the Office for Foreigners deals with granting and implementation of social assistance to foreigners seeking refugee status in Poland and it is seated at 16 Koszykowa Street in Warsaw.

The key document based on which a foreigner seeking refugee status may receive social assistance is the Act on granting protection to foreigners within the territory of the Republic of Poland of 13 June 2003 (Dz. U. [Journal of Laws] of 2003, No. 128, item 1176 as amended, including Dz. U. of 2008 No. 70, item 416).
