The Department for Social Assistance (DPS) participates in the preparation and implementation of projects financed under the European Refugee Fund and international projects concerning exchange of experiences and information in field of social assistance provided to persons seeking refugee status.
At present, the DPS workers participate in the RET (Reception Expert Teams) project implemented by COA, the Central Agency for Asylum-seekers in the Netherlands. The aim of the project is to develop a common methodology in five areas related with the reception of and care for persons seeking refugee status: integration, accommodation, co-operation with chain partners, staff capacity, vulnerable groups. The project is being implemented as part of the European Commission's plans to introduce changes to the Council Directive 2003/9/EC laying down minimum standards for the reception of asylum seekers in EU Member States. In addition, the final outcome of the project is to be a document with a set of best practices and guidelines which could be implemented in the Member States.
Poland also participates in the ENARO programme with 15 EU states, Switzerland and Norway. This project is based on an exchange of best practices and valuable experiences and strengthening international cooperation in the field of care for persons seeking refugee status. The idea of the Programme is implemented through a regular (twice a year) worker exchange from ENARO states.
