The Head of the Office for Foreigners hereinafter called "the Head of the Office" shall be the central authority of governmental administration competent with respect to entry of foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland, the transit of foreigners through that territory, the residence in and leaving it, granting to foreigners the refugee status, asylum, tolerated stay and temporary protection with reservation for the competencies of other authorities as provided for in the laws.

The Minister competent with respect to internal affairs shall exercise supervision over the Head of the Office.
