The decision on granting a refugee status is issued within 6 months from the day of submitting the application, unless the application is recognized to be manifestly unfounded. In such a case, the decision shall be issued within 30 days from the date of submitting the application.

If a first instance decision has not been rendered within the time limit of six months from the date of submission of an application for granting the refugee status, and the default was beyond the applicant's control, the Head of the Office, upon an alien's request, shall issue the certificate, which accompanied by the alien's provisional identity certificate constitutes a basis for obtaining the work permit according to the Act of 20 April 2004 on promotion of employment and institutions of labour market.
